Justin King

Justin King - CB - Penn State University Justinking

6'0", 186  Junior

Games scouted - Ohio State

  • Still playing scared after James Hardy of Indiana abused him last week; a major rule of cornerbacks is to have a short memory and move on
  • Beat for TD on fade stop; got muscled off ball
  • Not showing confidence
  • Not showing stickiness
  • Zero run support
  • Good effort in chase
  • Looks easily blocked
  • Beat again for TD; let man initiate point of attack and was instantly beaten
  • Good hip turn
  • Good close, but it's not elite
  • Bad footwork
  • Slow change of direction
  • Stats to date---34 tackles, 2 interceptions, 15 passes defensed

Justin King had two very bad weeks in a row against Indiana and Ohio State.  All those passes defensed is a good thing, in theory; in reality, however, that means the opposition is not afraid to throw it to his side, and the results favor the offense.  The kid has the size and the speed to make it to the next level, but he has played poorly this year and certainly has not lived up to his hype of #1 DB at rivals.com in 2005.  He should be far better than this report, and I've seen him play better.  I would suggest he come back for his senior year and really be a student of the game mentally and physically in the offseason to better his chances in the NFL.
